Finding the right counsellor matters.

I'm Joanne, a person-centred counsellor working with adults and young people. I offer a warm, down-to-earth and confidential space where you can talk openly about what's happening in your life without judgement or pressure.

You don't need to know exactly what's wrong or what you want to say before you come. We can start with where you are.

I Can Help With

You don't need to know exactly what's wrong or have a name for what you're feeling. You may simply know that things don't feel quite right at the moment.

You might be experiencing:

  • Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed

  • Low mood

  • Low self-esteem

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Stress

  • Life changes

  • School, college or work pressures

  • Difficult family relationships

  • Feeling stuck or unsure why you're struggling

Whatever brings you to counselling, we can explore what is happening for you at your own pace, in a safe and confidential space.

You don't need to fit your experience into a label to come to counselling.

What to Expect from Counselling

The Person Centred Approach

Person-centred counselling is based on the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to tell you what to do or give you the answers, but to offer a supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgement.
By feeling heard and understood, you can begin to make sense of what is happening for you and find your own way forward.
There is no expectation for you to be a certain way or to reach a particular outcome. We work with what feels important to you, giving you the time and space to understand yourself more fully and discover what feels right for you.

Your Session

Your counselling session is your space. You can talk about whatever feels important to you, and there is no pressure to arrive knowing exactly what you want to say.

We'll work at your pace, building a trusting relationship where you can speak openly and honestly. Some sessions may focus on something happening right now, while others may explore experiences from the past, relationships, feelings or patterns you've begun to notice.

You decide what we talk about and where we begin.
